What is Thermoplastic Paint?
Thermoplastic paint, also known as thermoplastic pavement marking material, is a high-performance, durable alternative to traditional traffic paint used for line striping and pavement markings. Unlike ordinary paint that is sprayed on and dries, thermoplastic paint starts as a solid powder made of plastic resins, pigments, fillers, and reflective glass beads.
It is heated to approximately 400°F in specialized equipment until it melts into a liquid, then applied hot to asphalt or concrete surfaces where it quickly cools and bonds permanently to the pavement. This unique process creates thick, highly visible markings that last 3–7+ years — often 3 to 5 times longer than standard paint — while delivering superior retroreflectivity for nighttime visibility and exceptional resistance to heavy traffic, weather, and wear.
At ThermoFAST, we specialize in professional thermoplastic line striping and pavement markings throughout Spartanburg, Greenville, and the entire Upstate South Carolina area.
